ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A sealed tray system is disclosed for hermetically packaging products such as meat. The system includes a tray for holding the product, the tray preferably being a laminate of a rigid interior layer of, e.g., a thermoplastic foam and an exterior layer of a liquid-impervious material such as polyethylene or a liquid- and gas-impervious material such as polyvinylidene chloride. An overwrap or sealing film is sealed to the exterior layer forming a leakproof package which improves the shelf-life and enhances the aesthetic appeal of the packaged product. 3/920326.2/SPECFLDRR
