Provided are a system and method for transferring management channel information (inband or using path overhead) over a synchronous optical network (SONET). In one example, using inband management information, the method (200) includes encapsulating management information in an internet protocol (IP) packet (202) and encapsulating the IP packet in an Ethernet frame (208). The Ethernet frame is tagged with a management tag (210) to differentiate the frame from the data traffic sent (212) via the network.
Système et procédé permettant de transférer des informations de canal de gestion (par voie intrabande ou à l'aide du surdébit de conduit) dans un réseau optique synchrone (SONET). Dans un exemple mettant en oeuvre des informations de gestion intrabande, le procédé consiste à encapsuler les informations de gestion dans un paquet IP (protocole Internet) et à encapsuler le paquet IP dans une trame Ethernet. Une étiquette de gestion est attribuée à la trame Ethernet afin de la distinguer du trafic de données transmises par l'intermédiaire du réseau.
