The present invention describes an image-guided, vacuum assisted percutaneous, coring, breast biopsy instrument (40) which incorporates a firing fork assembly (164) that is easy to remove and includes a means of maintaining the firing fork assembly (164) perpendicular to the biopsy base. The firing fork assembly (164) includes end fitting (166), firing fork shaft (168), spade end (196), and spade slot (198).
