A composite material for armour plating with improved multihit behaviour is proposed. The material comprises at least: a front layer, facing the impact side and mounted on a first sub-layer, the front layer consisting of a plurality of neighbouring front-layer segments with form-fit contact between adjacent segments; a rear layer facing away from the impact side; and a supporting layer disposed between the front and rear layers. The supporting layer consists of a plurality of supporting-layer segments, which present a surface parallel to the front layer whose area is the same as or less than the area of the front-layer segments parallel to the front layer.

L'invention concerne un nouveau composite pour le blindage dont le comportement aux impacts multiples est amélioré. Ce matériau comprend au moins une couche frontale, qui fait face au côté exposé à la menace, est placée sur une première couche de support et est constituée d'une pluralité de segments de couche frontale voisins, raccordés par liaison de forme, une couche arrière opposée au côté exposé à la menace, et une couche d'appui, qui est placée entre la couche frontale et la couche arrière. Cette couche d'appui est constituée de plusieurs segments de couche d'appui lesquels présentent une surface parallèle à la couche frontale qui est aussi grande ou plus petite que la surface des segments de couche frontale parallèle à la couche frontale.
