The present invention relates to a model generation and distribution system which facilitates the distribution of 3-dimensional model data. The present invention acts to store in a central data store a set of full 3-dimensional model data and to receive a request for abridged model data in a format requested by an end user. This abridged model data (organized in the format requested) can then be transmitted to the requesting end user, preferably via an internet protocol based transmission scheme.

La présente invention concerne un système de création et de distribution de modèle qui facilite la distribution de données de modèle à trois dimensions. Cette invention permet de stocker dans une mémoire centrale de données un ensemble de données de modèle à trois dimensions intégrales et de recevoir une requête concernant des données de modèle abrégées dans un format demandé par un utilisateur final. Ces données de modèle abrégées (organisées dans le format demandé) peuvent ensuite être transmises à l'utilisateur final qui en a fait la demande, de préférence via un mécanisme de transmission basé sur un protocole Internet.
