The present invention provides compositions and methods for use in treatment of premature rupture of membrane. The compositions of the invention include a therapeutic amount of an avian thick egg white composition. Preferably, the compositions include the purified thick egg white protein, ovomucin. The methods of the invention involve injecting an effective amount of the compositions into the prematurely ruptured amniotic sac of a patient in order to seal the rupture.

L'invention concerne des compositions et des procédés pour le traitement de rupture prématuré de membrane. Lesdites compositions renferment notamment une dose thérapeutique d'une composition d'albumen épais d'avien. De préférence, les compositions renferment la protéine d'albumen épais purifiée, l'ovomucine. Les procédés, selon l'invention, consistent à injecter une dose efficace de ces compositions dans le sac amniotique prématurément rompu d'un patient de façon à étanchéifier la rupture.
