A flame-retarded polyolefin fiber made of a termoplastic polyolefin and a graft copolymer composition represented by formula (I), in which PP is polypropylent, and S represents grafted side chains having halogenated monomeric units of formula (II), wherein x = 1 to 4, Rs is H or CH3, R9 is H or a C14 alkyl group, and R10 is Br or C1. In an alternate embodiment the flame-retarded polyolefin fiber further includes a halogenated bisphenol derivative represented by formula (III), in which R1 to R4 are H, CH3 or a halogen, R5 is H, dihaloethyl, dihalopropyl or dihalobutyl, and A is a single bond, O,CO,S,SO2 or C(R6(R7), where R6 and R7 are H or a C1-4 alkyl.
