A device for bridging expansion joints (7) which separate adjacent surfaces in walls or floors (6) of buildings is provided. The device comprises two anchoring profiles or members (1) having an approximately L-shaped cross section. Each anchoring profile comprises a fastening leg (11) and a terminating leg (12) disposed perpendicular to the fastening leg. Each anchoring profile also has a bridging profile or member (2 and 3, respectively) hinged on the terminating leg (12). The bridging profiles engage one another in a sliding, form-locking manner.
