A process is provided for producing a polymer composition. The process comprises contacting a narrow molecular weight distribution base polymer and a high molecular weight polymer component. The base polymer is an ethylene polymer having a Mw/Mn less than about 5 and a melt flow index from about 0.2 g/10 min to about 20 g/10 min. The high molecular weight polymer component has a molecular weight distribution such that at least a substantial portion of its molecules have a molecular weight of greater than one million. The high molecular weight polymer component being incorporated is in an amount to give about 0.1 % to about 10 % by weight, based on the total weight of the polymer composition, of the molecules having a molecular weight greater than one million. The polymer composition has a higher bulk density than the base polymer. In addition, when the polymer composition is blown into film, the film has improved clarity over the base polymer.

L'invention concerne un procédé de production d'une composition polymère. Le procédé consiste à mettre en contact un polymère de base à répartition étroite du poids moléculaire et un composant polymère à poids moléculaire élevé. Le polymère de base est un polymère d'éthylène présentant un Mp/Mn inférieur à environ 5 et un indice d'écoulement à l'état fondu compris entre 0,2g/10 min et environ 20g/10 min. Le composant polymère à poids moléculaire élevé possède une répartition du poids moléculaire telle, qu'au moins une partie importante de ses molécules ont un poids moléculaire supérieur à un million. Le composant polymère à poids moléculaire élevé est introduit dans une quantité permettant de donner entre environ 0,1 % et 10 % en poids, basé sur le poids total de la composition polymère, des molécules possédant un poids moléculaire supérieur à un million. La composition polymère possède une densité apparente supérieure à celle du polymère de base. En outre, lorsque la composition polymère est soufflée en un film, ce film présente une limpidité améliorée par rapport au polymère de base.
