Apparatus and an associated method for facilitating paging of an access terminal operable in a radio communication system. A paging message is formed that includes either partial identities of access terminals that are to be paged or paging indicators. Selection is made as to whether partial identities or paging indicators are to be used responsive to the number of partial identities that have common portions. If a large number of partial identities have common portions, the paging message is formed of partial identities. Otherwise, the paging message is formed of paging indicators.
L'invention concerne un appareil et un procédé associé destinés à faciliter la radiomessagerie d'un terminal d'accès fonctionnant dans un système de radiocommunication. Un message de radiomessagerie est constitué. Ce message comprend soit des identités partielles de terminaux d'accès à appeler par radiomessagerie, soit des indicateurs de radiomessagerie. La sélection entre les identités partielles ou les indicateurs de radiomessagerie à utiliser s'établit par rapport au nombre d'identités partielles présentant des parties communes. Si un grand nombre d'identités partielles présentent des parties communes, le message de radiomessagerie est constitué d'identités partielles; sinon, le message de radiomessagerie est constitué d'indicateurs de radiomessagerie.
