A method and reactor system for catalytic hydrotreating and hydrocracking of liquid hydrocarbon feedstocks in order to produce a feedstock having a reduced contaminant level are disclosed. A feedstock (11) is introduced into a first reaction zone (18) of a reactor system (10) having a plurality of successive reaction zones, each having a hydroprocessing bed therein. Hydrogen gas (14) is introduced into the reactor system for flow through and over the catalyst beds in contact with the liquid in order to react with the feedstock producing an effluent. A stream having the same composition as the feedstock introduced into the first reaction zone is introduced into at least one quench stream downstream of the first reaction zone. Quench gas (42) is injected into each quench zone in an amount sufficient in combination with the effluent from the immediately upstream reaction zone to reduce the temperature of the effluent to a predetermined range. An effluent product (30) is recovered from the last reaction zone (28).

Une charge (11) est introduite dans une première zone (18) de réaction d'un système réacteur (10) ayant une pluralité de zones de réaction successives, chacune contenant un lit d'hydrotraitement. De l'hydrogène gazeux (14) est introduit dans le système réacteur de manière à s'écouler à travers les lits catalytiques et au-dessus de ces derniers en contact avec le liquide, afin de réagir avec la charge pour produire un effluent. Un flux ayant la même composition que la charge introduite dans la première zone de réaction est introduit dans au moins un flux de refroidissement rapide en aval de la première zone de réaction. Du gaz de refroidissement rapide (42) est injecté dans chaque zone de refroidissement rapide en quantité suffisante, en combinaison avec l'effluent provenant de la zone de réaction située immédiatement en aval, pour réduire la température de l'effluent et l'amener dans une plage prédéterminée. Un produit effluent (30) est récupéré dans la dernière zone (28) de réaction.
