An endoluminal device (1) having an elongate tubular member (2) and a filter (13) slideably received within a lumen of the tubular member (2). An obturator tip (10) is carried by the filter (13) and shaped to rest against the distal end (5) of the elongate tubular member (2) when the filter (13) is within the lumen of the tubular member (2). Methods of using the obturator tip (10) and the elongate tubular member (2) for introducing the filter into a vessel, such as an aorta, are also disclosed.
