Active cooling of a person, such as to induce mild/moderate hypothermia, is accomplished by transferring heat from the persons body. Heat transfer is aided by administration of a vasodilation drug, preferably in combination with administration of an anti-shivering drug and an anti-emetic drug.

Selon l'invention, le refroidissement actif d'un patient, destiné à induire une hypothermie faible/modérée par exemple, est réalisé par transfert de la chaleur hors du corps du patient. Ce transfert thermique est facilité par l'administration d'un médicament vasodilatateur, de préférence associé à un médicament contre les frissons et à un antiémétique.
