A signaling method and device for use in a stream switching across a network (60) in which GDR random access points are used. In order to indicate the GDR switching points in the bitstreams, a Sync Sample Information Box, which is contained in the Sync Sample Box, is used to provide information of such GDR switching points. The information also includes which slice group is the isolated region and which slice group is the leftover region, if slice groups are applided in encoding. The signaling method can be used in video transmission using Real-time Transport Protocol (RTP) and a Session Description Protocol (SDP) can be used to convey information indicative of the characteristics of the bitstreams.

Procédé et dispositif de signalisation destinés à être utilisés dans la commutation de flux à travers un réseau (60) dans lequel des points d'accès aléatoires à rafraîchissement progressif de décodeur (GDR) sont utilisés. Afin d'indiquer les points de commutation GDR dans les flux de bits, une boîte d'informations relatives aux images-clés, contenue dans la boîte d'images-clés, est utilisée pour fournir des informations concernant de tels points de commutation GDR. Ces informations indiquent également le groupe de tranches constituant la région isolée et le groupe de tranches constituant la région restante, si des groupes de tranches sont appliqués dans le codage.
