Stator coil lead wires (S1, F1) are coursed along complex, circuitous paths on the end of a stator core (30) and trimmed at a precise predetermined distance from the stator core (30). Improved end effector wire-guiding tooling members (60, 62) are provided in place of conventional gripper jaws to permit the lead wires to be coursed along complex, circuitous paths. In addition, an improved lead pull assembly (100), improved temporary wire clamps (32), and a wire former assembly (300) are provided.
