The invention relates to a novel Bacillus thurigiensis strain(s) which solely produces a CryIA(a) crystal delta-endotoxin having a molecular weight of 130,000 daltons and is active against lepidopteran pests. The invention is also related to a spore(s), mutant(s), or crystal delta-endotoxin obtainable therefrom. Furthermore, the invention relates to insecticidal compositions comprising the B.i. strain, spore, mutant or crystal delta-endotoxin of the present invention. The invention further relates to methods of using the insecticidal compositions to control an insect pest(s) of the order Lepidoptera.
