A feline excremental deterrent device and a method of deterring cats from excreting excrement are disclosed. An enclosed container for containing simulated food, and in particular water or other liquid to simulate milk, is provided with a see- through portion such that the simulated food or liquid surface is visible through the see-through portion. The device is positioned in an area where it is desired to deter cats from excreting excrement. It has been observed and realized that when a cat sees what it perceives as being food, the cat will not excrete excrement in the area of the food. Therefore, by positioning the enclosed container of the device containing the simulated food, water or milk in an area the user can deter a cat from excreting excrement in that area.
