The present description describes an extension handle device which is readily attached to a hedge trimmer without the use of any tools. The device includes a molded plastic trimmer engaging sleeve that is easily attached to the body of the trimmer. It further includes a multi-positional handle joint that allows the operator to set the trimmer itself at various positions including at ninety degrees to the main handle. Also included is a guarded trigger mechanism as well as a device that is designed to allow the user to rest the device against his thigh or hip in order to steady the trimmer, thereby allowing for a more even trimmed hedge.
