A beer container comprising a metal, pressure-resistant barrel (1) for beer and a block-shaped housing (2) surrounding the barrel, which housing has a bottom surface whose dimensions correspond to those of a conventional crate for beer bottles and, at the top and bottom sides thereof, comprises means (3, 4) for enabling it to be stacked with housings of corresponding beer containers, and each barrel comprising connecting means (6, 7) for enabling the interior thereof to be coupled with the interior of the barrel of a superjacent and/or subjacent container. Through these measures, a beer container is obtained that can readily be displaced and transported in a compact stack, and the user may realize one single container with the desired capacity by coupling a number of stacked containers.
