An anti-inflammatory agent efficacious in treating protracted inflammation or inflammation in which the immunological mechanism participates. The agent comprises as the active ingredient dermatan sulfate or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof. The agent is usable in preventing or treating inflammation in association with glomerulonephritis, collagen diseases, multiple sclerosis, intractable vasculitis, immunopathy or autoimmune disease. When used together with an immunosuppressant (adrenocortical hormone, etc), the agent largely enhances the effects achieved by the immunosuppressant, which makes it possible to reduce the dose of the immunosuppressant. It is orally, intramuscularly, intraarterially or intravascularly administered in a dose of from 50 to 3,000 mg/day.

Agent anti-inflammatoire efficace dans le traitement d'inflammations prolongées ou d'inflammations dans lesquelles le mécanisme immunitaire est impliqué. L'agent comprend comme ingrédient actif du dermatane-sulfate ou un sel pharmacologiquement acceptable de celui-ci. L'agent est utilisable dans la prévention ou dans le traitement d'inflammations associées à la glomérulonéphrite, la maladie du collagène, la sclérose en plaque, l'angéite rebelle, l'immunopathie ou les maladies autoimmunes. Lorsqu'on l'utilise avec des immunodépresseurs (hormones adrénocorticales, etc.), ledit agent stimule considérablement les effets atteints par les immunodépresseurs, ce qui permet de réduire la dose des immunodépresseurs. On administre ledit agent par voie orale, intramusculaire, intra-artérielle ou intravasculaire en une dose comprise entre 50 et 3000 mg/jour.
