A glucose monitoring device suitable for use in total darkness or in limited light environment. The glucose monitoring device comprises a housing, which encloses the components of the device that determine the blood glucose level of a blood sample on a test strip. The exterior surface of the housing comprises a phosphorescent material. The portion of the test strip where the blood sample is to be applied can be illuminated by a light. The area of the glucose monitoring device where the test strip is inserted into the device can also be illuminated by a light. The display of the device, i. e., the area of the glucose monitoring device where the result is read, is also illuminated by a light.
On décrit un détecteur de glucose conçu pour être utilisé dans un environnement où l'obscurité est totale ou bien dans lequel la lumière est limitée. Le détecteur de glucose comprend un boîtier contenant les constituants du dispositif qui déterminent le taux de glucose sanguin d'un échantillon de sang déposé sur une bande de test. La surface extérieure du boîtier comporte une matière phosphorescente. La partie de la bande de test où doit être appliqué l'échantillon de sang peut être illuminée au moyen d'une lumière. La zone du détecteur de glucose où la bande de test est introduite dans le dispositif peut également être illuminée au moyen d'une lumière. L'afficheur du dispositif, c'est-à-dire l'endroit du détecteur de glucose où le résultat est lisible, est également éclairé par une lumière.
