A method of providing multiple versions of a digital recording by using a first and second stream identification. The method can include the step of encoding a base layer (112) having data representing a first version of a digital recording. The base layer (112) can be encoded with a first stream identification, which can be 0xE0. The method also can include the step of encoding an enhancement layer with enhancement data (124) which can be combined with the base data to represent a second version of the digital recording. The enhancement layer (124) can be encoded with a second stream identification which can be 0xBF, 0xFA, 0xFB, 0xFC, 0xFD or 0xFE. The base and enhancement layers can be multiplexed.
La présente invention concerne un procédé permettant d'obtenir de multiples versions d'un enregistrement numérique par utilisation d'une première et d'une seconde identification en continu. Ce procédé peut consister à coder une couche de base possédant des données représentant une première version d'un enregistrement numérique. Cette couche de base peut être codée avec une première identification en continu, qui peut être 0xE0. Ce procédé peut aussi consister à coder une couche améliorée avec des données améliorées qui peuvent être combinée avec les données de base de façon à représenter une seconde version de l'enregistrement numérique. Cette couche améliorée peut être codée avec une seconde identification en continu qui peut être 0xBF, 0xFA, 0xFB, 0xFC, 0xFD ou 0xFE. La couche de base et la couche améliorée peuvent être multiplexées.
