-i- THIAZOLYLMETHYLENE-3,5-PYRAZOLIDINEDIONE DYE-DONOR ELEMENT FOR THERMAL DYE TRANSFER Abstract of the Discloure A dye-donor element for thermal dye transfer comprises a support having thereon a dye dispersed in a polymeric binder, the dye comprising a thiazolylmethylene-3,5-pyrazolidinedione. In a preferred embodiment, the dye has the formula: Image wherein R1 and R2 each independently represents hydrogen, a substituted or unsubstituted alkyl group having from 1 to about 10 carbon atoms, a cycloalkyl group having from about 5 to about 7 carbon atoms, a substituted or unsubstituted aryl or hetaryl group having from about 2 to about 10 carbon atoms, or R and R can be joined together to form, along with the nitrogens to which they are attached, a 5- or 6-membered heterocyclic ring; R3 and R4 each represents R1 and R2, respectively, with the proviso that only one of R and R4 may be hydrogen; and R5 and R6 each independently represents hydrogen; halogen; cyano; thiocyano; a substituted or unsubstituted alkyl, alkoxy, alkylthio or alkylsulfonyl group having from 1 to about 10 carbon atoms; a substituted or unsubstituted aryl or hetary, aryloxy or hetaryloxy, arylthio or hetarylthio, arylsulfonyl or hetarylsulfonyl group having from about 2 to about 10 carbon atoms; a cycloalkyl group having from about 5 to about 7 . -ii- carbon atoms; alkoxycarbonyl; aryloxycarbonyl; acyl; carbamoyl; mono- or dialkylamino; mono- or diarylamino; acylamido; sulfonamido; or sulfamoyl.
