Sensitive and specific enzyme-linked immunosorbent assays which detect Clostridium botulinum neurotoxins serotypes A, B, E, and F in a sample are described. The assay is based upon affinity-purified antibodies directed against the C-fragments of each toxin. These assays demonstrate sensitivity close to that of the mouse bioassay without the use of animals and in a much simpler format than other assays of similar sensitivity.
L'invention concerne des dosages immunoenzymatiques sensibles et spécifiques permettant de détecter des sérotypes A, B, E, et F de neurotoxines de Clostridium botulinum dans un échantillon. Le dosage est fondé sur des anticorps purifiés par affinité dirigés contre les fragments C de chaque toxine. Ces dosages démontrent une sensibilité proche de celle du dosage effectué sur la souris, sans utilisation d'animaux, et dans un format beaucoup plus commode que d'autres dosages de sensibilité similaire.
