Shaped forms of packaging with one or a plurality of recesses are manufactured in a forming process from a metal-plastic composite, or from a metal foil coated with lacquer on one or both sides. The strength of individual or more plastic layers in the metal- plastic composite is increased before and/or during at least one forming step by specifically controlling the relaxation behaviour of the plastic layers of the metal-plastic composite. The forming step may be stretch drawing or deep drawing. To that end the metal-plastic composite or at least individual or more, in particular outer-lying plastic layers of the metal- plastic composite are cooled before and/or during at least one of the forming steps to temperatures of less than +10°C, preferably less than 0°C, in particular less than - 5°C, and higher than -100°C, preferably higher than -50°C, advantageously higher than -30°C.
