The compound dimples (10) include a first circular dimple portion and a second dimple portion (16) arranged in a bottom surface (14) of the first circular portion, with the second dimple portion (16) having a diameter less than the diameter of the first circular portion. The combination of compound and circular dimples (4, 10) on the surface of the ball (2) improves the aerodynamic efficiency of the ball (2) and increases the distance the ball (2) will travel.
