A closure for use in conjunction with an open receiver of a medical implant for capturing and locking a rod member in the implant includes a radially outward threaded cylindrical body sized and shaped to be threadably received between two arms of a head of the implant. The closure also includes a driving head and a coaxial removal head having a similar shape. The driving head breaks away from the body at a predetermined torque leaving the removal head. A rim stop is located near a base of the driving head to prevent a tool with a socket for gripping the driving head from inadvertently gripping the removal head during installation and over-torquing the closure. The stop is removed with the driving head, leaving the removal head that may be received by the same socket tool used for installation. The closure may also be in the form of a set screw and closure combination, with the set screw including a breakaway driving head and a removal head with a polyhedral shaped external surface.
L'invention concerne une fermeture utilisée conjointement avec un élément de réception ouvert d'un implant médical permettant de capturer et de bloquer une tige dans l'implant. Cette fermeture comprend un corps cylindrique fileté radialement vers l'extérieur conçu et formé pour être reçu par filetage entre deux bras d'une tête de l'implant. Ladite fermeture comprend également une tête d'entraînement et une tête de retrait coaxiale présentant une forme similaire. La tête d'entraînement se sépare par rupture du corps sous l'action d'un couple prédéterminé de manière à laisser seule la tête de retrait. Une butée de bord est située au voisinage d'une base de la tête d'entraînement et permet d'empêcher le serrage par inadvertance de la tête de retrait par un outil pourvu d'une douille assurant le serrage de la tête d'entraînement pendant l'installation et le serrage exagéré de la fermeture. La butée est retirée avec la tête d'entraînement de manière à laisser seule la tête de retrait, laquelle peut être reçue par le même outil à douille utilisé pour l'installation. La fermeture peut également se présenter sous la forme d'une combinaison vis de pression/fermeture, la vis de pression comprenant une tête d'entraînement à rupture et une tête de retrait pourvue d'une surface extérieure polyédrique.
