A remedy for hyperuricemia which comprises a hydantoin derivative represented by general formula (I) or a salt thereof as the active ingredient, wherein Q represents cyclohexyl, cycloheptyl, cyclooctyl, 2,5-dimethylthien-3-yl, indan- 2-yl or 2,5-dichlorophenyl. The uricosuric agent exerts a potent uricosuric effect on an animal experiment model while sustaining or gradually increasing the urine volume. Further, it has a low toxicity. Thus it is useful in the treatment of hyperuricemia or in the treatment and prevention of gout. It is expected that the effect of the uricosuric agent of sustaining or gradually increasing the urine volume would relieve the load on a patient of taking a large amount of water.

L'invention porte sur un remède contre l'hyperuricémie comportant un dérivé d'hydantoïne, ou un sel de celui-ci en tant qu'ingrédient actif, représenté par la formule générale (I). Dans cette formule, Q représente un cyclohexyle, un cycloheptyle, un cyclooctyle, un diméthylthiène-3-yl en position 2, 5 et un indane-2-yl ou un dichlorophényle en position 2, 5. L'agent uricosurique, qui exerce une puissante action uricosurique sur un modèle animal d'expérience tout en maintenant ou en augmentant graduellement le volume des urines, n'a, de surcroît, qu'une faible toxicité. Il s'avère donc efficace dans le traitement de l'hyperuricémie ou le traitement et la prévention de la goutte. En principe l'action de l'agent uricosurique, maintenant ou augmentant graduellement le volume des urines, devrait libérer le patient de la contrainte de boire de grandes quantités d'eau.
