A refractive intraocular lens (20) in- cludes an optic portion (22) having an outer peripheral edge (24) and at least two hap- tic element (26) each having an inner portion (28) and an outer end (30) for supporting the optic portion (22) in a patient's eye (10), the respective inner portions (28) of the haptic elements (26) being connected to the outer peripheral edge (24) of the optic portion (22). Each haptic element (26) includes at least one footplate (32) on the outer end (30), and fur- ther includes a central portion (38) extending between the footplate (32) and the inner por- tion (28). The central portion (38) of each haptic element (26) has a greater resistance to bending in a plane (40-40) generally parallel to an optical axis (OA-OA) of the patient's eye (10) than in a plane (36-36) generally perpendicular to the optical axis (OA-OA). The optical portion (22) and haptic elements (26) are preferably formed of a foldable or compressible material.
L'invention concerne un cristallin artificiel (20) réfringent comportant une partie optique (22) qui présente un bord (24) périphérique extérieur et au moins deux éléments haptiques (26), chacun de ceux-ci présentant une partie intérieure (28) et une extrémité extérieure (30) servant à soutenir la partie optique (22) dans l'oeil (10) d'un patient, les parties intérieures (28) respectives des éléments haptiques (26) étant connectées au bord (24) périphérique extérieur de la partie optique (22). Chaque élément haptique (26) comporte au moins un élément de support (32) sur l'extrémité extérieure (30), et comprend en outre une partie centrale (38) s'étendant entre l'élément de support (32) et la partie intérieure (28). La partie centrale (38) de chaque élément haptique (26) présente une plus grande résistance à la flexion dans un plan (40-40) généralement parallèle à un axe optique (OA-OA) de l'oeil (10) du patient, que dans un plan (36-36) généralement perpendiculaire à l'axe optique (OA-OA). La partie optique (22) et les éléments haptiques (26) sont de préférence formés en une matière pliable ou compressible.
