For a rust-prone bar weight used in an exercise device for aquatic exercising, such as swimming, a cooperating compartment for the bar weight that is not hermetically sealed or requires any other precaution against rusting of the metal construction material of bar weight because of a plastic encapsulation of the bar weight which, by itself, is totally effective to this end.
