A B S T R A C T A method for slowing down the basal metabolism and controlling the ripening process of fruits and similar. It consists of dissolving ace - tic acid in a determined volumen of water, adding a determined amount of potassium permanganate and of sodium periodate, by stirring until dissol ving, and adding then powdered sepiolite and after a later stirring a paste will be obtained which will be extruded inside an oven. Next, the mois ture rate is assessed and the paste is distributed in filter-like sec - tions or unwoven textile material bags.
