The use of a compound having formula (I) is described as an agent for the browning of skin or hair, Formula (I) wherein: R1 and R2 are mutually independently H, OH, C1-C10-alkyl, C1 -C10-O-alkyl or O-prenyl, R3 is H, OH, O- glucose or O-rhamnose and R4 is a monosaccharide radical or an oligosaccharide radical having 2, 3, 4 or 5 carbohydrate units, with the proviso that the compound having formula (I) is not used in the form of a preparation based on Citrus aurantium dulcis.

L'invention concerne l'utilisation d'un composé de formule (I) qui constitue un agent servant à brunir la peau ou les cheveux. Dans ladite formule (I) : R1 et R2 représentent indépendamment H, OH, un groupe alkyle en C1-C10, un groupe O-prényle ou un groupe O-alkyle en C1-C10 ; R3 désigne H, OH, O-glucose ou O-rhamnose, et ; R4 représente un radical monosaccharide ou un radical oligosaccharide comportant 2, 3, 4 ou 5 unités glucidiques, à condition que le composé de formule (I) ne soit pas utilisé sous la forme d'une préparation à base de Citrus aurantium dulcis.
