Egg candling methods and apparatus are provided wherein the optical path between a light source and light detector is monitored for obscuring debris and/or malfunctions. A method of candling eggs includes illuminating an egg with light from a light source; receiving light passing through the egg at a light detector; generating an output signal that corresponds to light received at the light detector for the egg; and analyzing the output signal to determine whether the optical path between the light source and light detector has been altered. In response to determining that a respective optical path has been altered, the light source and/or light detector is cleaned and/or inspected for malfunctions. Cleaning the light source and/or light detector may include wiping a surface of the light source and/or light detector and/or spraying a surface of the light source and/or light detector with a fluid.
L'invention concerne des procédés de mirage d'oeufs et un appareil dans lequel le trajet optique entre une source lumineuse et un détecteur lumineux est commandé en vue d'obscurcir les débris et/ou les malformations. Un procédé de mirage d'oeufs consiste à éclairer un oeuf avec de la lumière provenant d'une source lumineuse; à recevoir le lumière passant à travers l'oeuf au niveau d'un détecteur de lumière; à générer un signal de sortie qui correspond à la lumière reçue au niveau du détecteur de lumière pour oeufs; et à analyser le signal de sortie afin de déterminer si le trajet optique entre la source lumineuse et le détecteur de lumière a été altéré. En réponse à la détermination qu'un trajet optique respectif a été altéré, la source lumineuse et/ou le détecteur de lumière est nettoyé et/ou inspecté à la recherche d'anomalies. Le nettoyage de la source lumineuse et/ou du détecteur de lumière peut consister à essuyer une surface de la source lumineuse et/ou du détecteur de lumière avec un fluide.
