A gene usable in diagnosis and therapy which is obtained by separating a novel hepatitis virus gene and specifying the gene sequence thereof. This gene is a non-B non-C non-G hepatitis virus gene having a base sequence involving a sequence consisting of about 3,500 to 4,000 bases which can be amplified by PCR by using as primers an oligonucleotide having the base sequence represented by SEQ ID NO:57 and another oligonucleotide having the base sequence represented by SEQ ID NO:60, or PCR by using as primers the oligonucleotide having the base sequence represented by SEQ ID NO:57 and another oligonucleotide having the base sequence represented by SEQ ID NO:61. Based on the base sequence of this gene, polypeptides, etc. are provided.

Cette invention se rapporte à un gène pouvant servir au diagnostic et au traitement, que l'on obtient en isolant un gène du virus d'une nouvelle hépatite et en spécifiant la séquence génique correspondante. Ce gène est un gène du virus de l'hépatite non-B, non-C, non-G possédant une séquence de base comportant approximativement de 3,500 à 4,000 bases, qu'il est possible d'amplifier par PCR en utilisant en tant qu'amorces un oligonucléotide possédant la séquence de base représentée par SEQ ID NO:57 et un autre oligonucléotide possédant la séquence de base représentée par SEQ ID NO:60, ou bien par PCR en utilisant en tant qu'amorces l'oligonucléotide possédant la séquence de base représentée par SEQ ID NO:57 et un autre oligonucléotide possédant la séquence de base représentée par SEQ ID NO:61. Cette invention se rapporte également à des polypeptides, etc. associés à la séquence de base de ce gène.
