L'invention concerne le repérage de points d'intérêt sur une zone (10, 20) de la surface d'une pièce (100), comprenant la mise en contact intime sur ladite zone d'un témoin surfacique (11, 21) constitué d'une couche mince et suffisamment souple pour se conformer à la zone, la couche mince supportant des traces en matériau électriquement conducteur, le passage d'une sonde à courants de Foucault (30) sur une trace fournissant un signal significatif et représentatif de la trace, ce signal représentatif correspondant à un point d'intérêt ainsi repéré sur ladite zone. L'invention permet notamment l'optimisation de la trajectoire et de l'angulation d'une sonde à courants de Foucault balayant une zone d'une pièce à contrôler. Figure 2.
