The invention relates to a method and device for recognizing delivery data on mail matter due to video coding fields (40), whereby recorded, digitalized and stored pictures of the mail matter areas are transmitted after undefined automatic assessment of said delivery data by an OCR unit (100). According to said method, at least the names are entered by means of the character entry unit (60, 70). Candidates for character recognition are then selected based on the indefinite results of the automatic OCR assessment. The inventive method is particularly practical inasmuch as it enables selection by comparing either the determined number of signs, or the candidate signs from a positional point of view, with the signs determined by means of the OCR unit, taking the probabilities into account.

La présente invention concerne un procédé et un dispositif de reconnaissance des données de distribution figurant sur les envois postaux à l'aide de champs de vidéocodage (40) où les images enregistrées, numérisées et mises en mémoire des surfaces des envois postaux sont transmises après évaluation automatique non définie des données de distribution dans une unité de ROC (100). Selon ce procédé, au moins les noms sont entrés à l'aide de l'unité d'entrée des caractères (60, 70). Les candidats pour la reconnaissance des caractères sont ensuite sélectionnés sur la base des résultats non définis de l'évaluation ROC automatique.
