PROCESS FOR FORMING 4,4'-DIHYDROXYDIPHENYL SULFONE ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE The rate of formation of desired 4,4'-dihydroxy- diphenyl sulfone in the product mixture derived from reaction of phenol and sulfuric acid can be increased by use of a catalytically effective amount of a fluoroalkane- sulfonic acid, e.g., trifluoromethanesulfonic acid.
