Currently, no efficient, non-invasive methods exist for delivering drugs and/or other therapeutic agents to the interior of the eye to treat or prevent disease or injury. The present invention relates to a novel method that is suitable for the delivery of any therapeutic agent (suitably modified) to the interior of the eye without the need for the penetration of a needle into the eyeball. In a preferred embodiment, it involves an injection into a peripheral vein (or oral administration, or administration by some other enteral or parenteral route) of a solution of inert drug which is trapped in the eye by a magnetic field and activated by radiation once it is in position, so that the active agent is released only where it is needed and can have its therapeutic effect without affecting other tissues or organs. The inert drug may be composed of a biologically compatible magnetic nanoparticle chemically bound to a specially inactivated (caged) form of the drug to be delivered and to a luminescent marker.
La présente invention vise à pallier l'inexistence à l'heure actuelle de procédés efficaces et non invasifs pour l'administration de médicaments et / ou d'autres agents thérapeutiques à l'intérieur de l'AEil pour traiter ou empêcher une maladie ou une lésion. L'invention concerne un procédé nouveau qui convient pour administrer un agent thérapeutique quelconque (modifié de façon appropriée) à l'intérieur de l'AEil sans nécessiter la pénétration d'une aiguille dans le globe oculaire. Dans un mode de réalisation préféré, ledit procédé comporte l'injection dans une veine périphérique (ou l'administration orale, ou par une autre voie entérale ou parentérale) d'une solution de médicament inerte qui est piégée dans l'AEil par un champ magnétique et activée par une radiation une fois en position, de sorte que l'agent actif n'est libéré que là où il est nécessaire et peut avoir son effet thérapeutique sans affecter d'autres tissus ou organes. Le médicament inerte peut être composé d'une nanoparticule magnétique biocompatible liée chimiquement à une forme spécialement désactivée (en cage) du médicament à administrer et à un marqueur luminescent.
