23443-426 ABSTRACT Fibre-reinforced moulding compositions based on poly- phenylene ethers, which compositions have an improved adhesion between fibre and matrix and good mechanical properties. The compositions contain polyphenylene ethers, optionally styrene polymer, optionally polyoctenylene, an .alpha.,.beta.-unsaturated carboxylic acid derivative and also carbon fibres and/or glass fibres whose surfaces bear functional groups. The moulding compositions of the invention are employed to produce industrial mouldings such as, for example, gear wheels or pump components.
