Disclosed is a process for forming a normalized genomic DNA library from an environmental sample by (a) isolating a genomic DNA population from the environmental sample; (b) at least one of (i) amplifying the copy number of the DNA population so isolated and (ii) recovering a fraction of the isolated genomic DNA having a desired characteristic; and (c) normalizing the representation of various DNAs within the genomic DNA population so as to form a normalized library of genomic DNA from the environmental sample. Also disclosed is a normalized genomic DNA library formed from an environmental sample by the process.

La présente invention concerne un procédé permettant la constitution d'une échantillothèque normalisée d'ADN génomique à partir d'un échantillon prélevé dans son milieu. Ce procédé consiste d'abord (a) à isoler dans l'échantillon prélevé dans son milieu une population d'ADN génomique. Le procédé consiste ensuite à réaliser l'une au moins des deux opérations consistant (i) à amplifier le nombre d'exemplaires de la population d'ADN ainsi isolée ou (ii) à récupérer une fraction de l'ADN génomique isolé présentant une caractéristique intéressante. Le procédé consiste enfin (c) à normaliser la représentation des divers ADN dans la population d'ADN génomique de façon à constituer une échantillothèque normalisée d'ADN génomique à partir de l'échantillon prélevé dans son milieu. L'invention concerne également une échantillothèque normalisée d'ADN génomique obtenue selon ce procédé à partir d'un échantillon prélevé dans son milieu.
