A communication system (Fig. 2) for coordinated downstream diversity transmis- sion includes a central processing center (105) for selecting adaptive transmitter parameters and adaptive receiver parameters as to opti- mize the estimate of a transmitted data sym- bol received by a given mobile unit (e.g. 121) while constraining power output as well as ac- counting for interference to other mobile units (e.g. 122-125) within the propagation range of base units (110, 111, 112) controlled by the central processing center. The adaptive transmitter and receiver parameters are deter- mined from the solution of an eigenvalue for- mulation expressed in terms of the transmis- sion path characteristics between the mobile unit and the base unit as well as transmission signal sources and mobile unit process filters.

Un système de communication (fig. 2) pour la transmission en diversité en aval coordonnée comprend une unité centrale (105) destinée à sélectionner des paramètres d'émission adaptative et des paramètres de réception adaptative afin d'optimiser et d'estimer un symbole de donnée envoyée, reçu par une unité mobile (par ex. 121), tout en limitant la puissance de sortie de même qu'en prenant en compte des parasites causés aux autres unités mobiles (par ex. 122-125) à l'intérieur de la plage de propagation des unités de base (110, 111, 112) pilotées par l'unité centrale. Les paramètres d'émission et de réception adaptatives sont déterminés à partir de la solution d'une formulation de valeur propre exprimée en fonction des caractéristiques de voie de transmission entre l'unité mobile et l'unité de base, de même qu'entre les sources de signaux de transmission et les filtres de traitement de l'unité mobile.
