ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A manufacturing system for forming composite material boards with straight side edges without voids includes movable sidewall guides at opposing sides of a longitudinal forming line belt conveyor. Each guide includes a roller chain and a plurality of individual overlapping plates attached thereto. Each roller chain is driven by a drive system which includes a drive sprocket and an idler sprocket. A controller controls the forming line conveyor and the movable sidewall guides so that they move at the same speed and in the same direction. This synchronized speed control eliminates shear forces between the sidewall guides and the composite material, and thus overcomes the problems of voids occurring in the composite material boards. A guide track is utilized to keep the roller chain and plates properly aligned.
