Tools with features for either crimping a malleable metal seal against a pair of wire ropes, or strands or the like extending through the seal to secure them together or for severing a member such as wire rope or strand. The crimping and cutting features are located in line, on apposite sides of, and at the nose ends of two complementary jaws. The nose ends of the jaws can be moved toward each other by a rectilinearly displaceable cam and cam followers at tail ends of the jaws. A pneumatic cylinder with a rigid casing is preferably employed to advance the cam into jaw closing engagement with the cam followers and to retract the cam.
