The present invention provides compounds which inhibit an envelope of an influenza-type virus by inhibiting the fusion of the virus with the host cell of formula (1). The values of R, R0, R1, R4, R6, R7, and R8 are described herein. The virus may be inhibited in an infected cell, a cell susceptible of infection or a mammal in need thereof.
