A modular video signal matrix switcher (12) is constructed with a midplane architecture. The functional components of the system include a power supply board, a controller board, one or two output boards, an optional control signal generating board, and one or more switching boards. These components are contained within a housing which has a number of non-dedicated board placement slots. The non-dedicated slots can receive any one of a switching board, an output board or a camera control signal generating board. Each type of board component is assigned a respective distinguishing color pursuant to a color coding system. The color coding system facilitates configuration management, assembly and maintenance operations.
L'invention concerne un commutateur matriciel de signaux vidéo (12) modulaire, construit selon une architecture à plan moyen. Les composants fonctionnels du système sont constitués d'une carte d'alimentation, d'une carte de régisseur, d'une ou deux cartes de sortie, éventuellement d'une carte de génération de signaux de commande et d'une ou plusieurs cartes de commutation. Ces composants sont logés dans un boîtier qui comporte plusieurs fentes de placement de cartes non spécialisées. Les fentes non-spécialisées peuvent recevoir n'importe quelle carte parmi une carte de commutation, une carte de sortie ou une carte de génération de signaux de commande de caméra. A chaque type de composant de carte est attribuée une couleur respective choisie dans un système de codage par couleur, lequel facilite les opérations de gestion de configuration, d'assemblage et d'entretien.
