A device for supporting a patient in a curled position including a shaft having a support end adapted to be urged against a portion of the lower abdomen of the patient thereby to support the patient in the curled position. The shaft may have a counterbalance end adapted to engage an external body such that, when the patient is urged towards said external body, the shaft applies pressure on the lower abdomen of the patient thereby to support the patient in the curled position.
