ABSTRACT A hose coupling wherein the terminal portion of a rigid metallic or plastic pipe has one or more external annular retainers close to its free end and is surrounded by a sleeve-like layer of sealing material, such as synthetic rubber, which retains its sealing properties within the entire temperature range of between approximately -80°C and +260°C. The terminal portion of the pipe and its layer of sealing material are inserted into the terminal portion of a hose prior to the application of an annular clamp which surrounds the terminal portion of the hose and urges it against the external surface of the layer of sealing material. The retainer or retainers are located between the properly applied clamp and the free end of the terminal portion of the pipe. The layer of sealing material can but need not extend beyond the clamp, e.g., all the way to the free end of the terminal portion of the hose, and the materials of the hose and layer are selected in such a way that the sealing material does not adhere to the hose. The sealing material of the layer adheres to the terminal portion of the pipe. - 1 -
