In a process for impregnating a fibrous, woven, knitted or nonwoven fabric with an aqueous liquid, in particular of the type containing a treatment agent, the textile fabric (6) is placed on an endless cloth (4) permeable to liquids, the liquid is poured under gravity onto the textile fabric in the form of a liquid curtain or sheet transverse to the direction of motion of the latter, and a vacuum slit (13) arranged below the cloth produces a vacuum sufficient for at least part of said liquid to pass through the textile fabric. The rate at which the liquid is poured, defined with respect to the weight of the fabric passing below said liquid sheet, is greater than a given value above which the impregnation rate is a function of said depression and independent of the poured quantity, thus permitting uniform impregnation and easy control of the impregnation rate.

Le procédé d'imprégnation d'une nappe fibreuse, tissée, tricotée ou non- tissée, avec un liquide aqueux notamment du type contenant un agent de traitement est caractérisé en ce qu'il consiste à: (i) déposer la nappe (6) sur une toile sans fin (4) perméable aux liquides, (ii) déverser le liquide par gravité sur la nappe sous la forme d'un rideau, ou lame, liquide transversal au sens de déplacement de celle-ci, (iii) créer au moyen d'une fente à vide (13) disposée sous la toile une dépression suffisante pour qu'au moins une partie dudit liquide traverse la nappe, le taux de liquide déversé, défini par rapport au poids de la nappe défilant sous ladite lame, étant supérieur à une valeur déterminée à partir de laquelle le taux d'emport est fonction de ladite dépression et indépendant de la quantité déversée, de façon à permettre une imprégnation homogéne et un contrôle aisé du taux d'emport.
