The invention relates to a method of preparing a titanium- and zirconium-based oxide. The inventive method consists in: forming a liquid medium which contains a zirconium compound and a titanium compound; subsequently, heating said medium; and recovering the precipitate obtained at the end of the previous step and, optionally, calcining said precipitate. The invention also relates to a titanium- and zirconium-based oxide. The oxide can contain between 30 and 40 wt.- % titanium oxide and, in this case, said oxide presents a pure ZrTiO¿4?-type structure or a mixture of phases with ZrTiO¿4?-type structure and anatase-type structure. The aforementioned oxide can also comprise between 10 and 20 wt.- % titanium oxide and, in this case, said oxide presents a specific surface area of at least 40 m2/g after calcination for 5 hours at 800 ·C.

L'invention concerne un procédé de préparation d'un oxyde à base de zirconium et de titane dans lequel on forme un milieu liquide contenant un composé du zirconium et un composé de titane; puis on chauffe ledit milieu; on récupère le précipité obtenu à l'issue de l'étape précédente et on calcine éventuellement ce précipité.L'invention concerne aussi un oxyde à base de zirconium et de titane. Cet oxyde peut comprendre entre 30% et 40% en poids d'oxyde de titane et il présente dans ce cas une structure de type ZrTiO4 pure ou un mélange de phases de structure type ZrTiO4 et de structure type anatase. Cet oxyde peut aussi comprendre entre 10% et 20% en poids d'oxyde de titane et il présente alors une surface spécifique après calcination 5 heures à 800~C d'au moins 40 m2/g.
