2111970 9300418 PCTABS00019 Liquid detergent containing enzymes particularly proteases are stabilized against enzyme degradation prior to use by inclusion of an inhibitor of the enzyme which binds to the enzyme such that prior to use of the detergent at least about 90% of the enzyme is bound to the enzyme inhibitor essentially at the enzyme active site. Such enzyme inhibitor so selected can be used effectively in concentrations much lower than previously taught.
